This wonderful book was given to me by Bishop Josep when he was in Dublin recently. It is undoubtedly the best Church book I have read in the past five years. I read a lot of books – and this one is now in my top 4. The other 3 are “Wild At Heart” (Eldredge), “Ancient-Future Faith” (Webber), and “The Celtic Way of Evangelism” (Hunter III).
In his book, Archbishop Daniel gives a strategic logos word and a tactical rhema word to the Church. He answers the big question of how the Church can respond to Jesus’ prayer for unity (John 17:21). He identifies three of the main historic and contemporary streams of the Church. These are (1) The Evangelical Stream, emphasising salvation by faith in Jesus Christ; (2) The Sacramental Stream, emphasising the presence of God through liturgy, rites, symbolism and signs; (3) The Charismatic Stream, emphasising the expression of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, with expressive praise, signs and wonders. He quotes Psalm 46:4 “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells” – leading to the roar of rushing waters of Revelation chapter 19.
The point of the book? God is bringing these streams of His church together! His streams are converging into one mighty river of God. Each of the streams has brought life, hope and truth to the world. A great deal more will be accomplished around the world through the convergence of the streams. Please read this book – it has the potential to enlarge your vision beyond your wildest dreams for fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus to us, His Church. – Tomás+

“I Strongly Recommend this book!”
The book provides much needed information on convergence movement and offers helpful insights on how ‘convergence’ can lead to ‘unity with redemptive purpose,’ and revitalise the Body of Christ. It also clearly points out that ‘unity with purpose’ is an essential prerequisite to fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

“This is a great book!”
The Sound of Rushing Waters brings clarity and understanding to the importance and value of the ‘convergence’ movement. Many churches and leaders tend to embrace either the historic traditions or the more contemporary ones Daniel shows the value of embracing both. With a greater understanding and appreciation of the historic and contemporary traditions we are positioned for a deeper unity in the Body of Christ. Daniel makes a strong Biblical case that the purpose of unity is to fulfil the great commission.
